What can Certification do for me?

Certification is a tool of a professional association to establish the benchmarks of performance that will signify a broad-based competence in the professional field. By successfully completing this certification program, you will:

  • Demonstrate a mastery of the comprehensive knowledge base required for emergency number program management.
  • Help to raise industry standards and increase the respect and prestige of those involved in 9-1-1.
  • Confirm your commitment to the 9-1-1 profession by showing yourself to be a leader in public safety and pledging yourself to stay aware of current issues and developments in the field.

Goals of Certification

  • To establish the comprehensive body of knowledge for Emergency Number Professionals.
  • To promote a standard of competence for Emergency Number Professionals that will be recognized and accepted by the 9-1-1 profession, government agencies, the business community, and the general public.
  • To ensure an awareness of current issues and developments in the 9-1-1 profession.
  • To provide formal recognition of individuals for professional achievement.
  • To encourage professional growth and enhance the self-esteem of Emergency Number Professionals.

Study Group Conference Calls

Texas NENA will be holding ENP Study Group Conference Calls every Wednesday at 2:00pm CST.

The purpose of these one hour meetings will be to review relevant subject matter, found within the various resources recommended by NENA, in order to prepare for the ENP examination.

These calls will be led by various NENA members who have graciously agreed to share their knowledge. Participants will be able to ask questions and contribute input, as well. The latest Study Group Conference Call Schedule is available online and includes an RSS feed to access audio recordings from each call. You may elect to join the study group every week or you may opt to select specific weeks. Either way, you are sure to enjoy this learning opportunity and become more confident in all aspects of your profession.

The NENA Institute Board has approved an electronic testing program for all ENP examinations. These testing periods consist of a two-week timeframe scheduled four times a year. See the schedule below for important dates, such as the application deadline for testing, as well as the examination period.
