The Laverne Hogan Award
The Laverne Hogan Award is to honor an individual who has shown extraordinary leadership in advancing 9-1-1 in Texas and recognizes a person whose name is synonymous with Texas and 9-1-1; Laverne Hogan, the first
TX-NENA president and founding executive director of Greater Harris County
9-1-1 Emergency Network. This award recognizes a 9-1-1 Administrator who not only excelled in his or her everyday job but who has gone above and beyond to further the goals of the Texas Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (TXNENA), that person who not only consistently meets, but exceeds the expectations of their peers.
Nomination Criteria
- Must be a TX-NENA member in good standing
- Must be nominated by a TX-NENA member in good standing
- Must have demonstrated lifetime or career-length dedication and integrity with
respect to TX-NENA.
- Must have provided vision, value and leadership for TX-NENA and public
safety through his or her commitment and work ethics
- Have achieved exceptional and sustained results with respect to public safety
and 9-1-1.
- Nominator must be able to document evidence of the individual’s actions and
accomplishments in creating and sustaining the positive image of TX-NENA
and 9-1-1.
Award Criteria
The TX-NENA Executive Board will determine the recipient of the Laverne Hogan Award as nominated by the TX-NENA membership and as presented by the TXNENA Nominating Committee. The Award will be presented if an appropriate nomination is made. If an appropriate nomination is not made, no award will be given.
