Wireless 9-1-1
Texas has been a leader in wireless ("cellular") E9-1-1 deployments and continues to aggressively expand Phase I and Phase II wireless throughout the state. Much of this success can be contributed to the fact that Texas is a "Cost Recovery" state, which encouraged Commercial Mobile Radio Service (wireless phone) providers to focus on Texas to help satisfy FCC requirements for E9-1-1 deployments.
The Commission on State Emergency Communications (CSEC) is responsible for receiving all 9-1-1 wireless service fees collected from wireless service providers and redistributes the appropriate portion to 75 9-1-1 jurisdictions each month. Each jurisdictions portion is based on its population, which is updated on an annual basis.
